asked the Minister of Transport when tenders are to be invited for the construction of the Forth Road Bridge.

This is a matter primarily for the Forth Bridge Committee. To avoid misunderstanding, I would refer the hon. Member to the statement I made to the House on 6th May, 1946

Further to that statement, do I take it from the Minister that, this being a matter for the Forth Bridge Committee, they would have his approval in asking for tenders?

Mr. Barnes

I do not request the hon. Gentleman to assume anything, but if he looks at my statement of 6th May he may get some light and guidance.
