HC Deb 02 July 1947 vol 439 c1287
1. Mr. George Wallace

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty to what extent accounting branches of his Department are using modern methods of mechanised accounting.

The Parliamentary and Financial Secretary to the Admiralty (Mr. John Dugdale)

In the majority of Admiralty departments concerned, modern methods of mechanised accounting are either in use or on trial.

Lieut.-Commander Gurney Braithwaite

Now that the W.R.N.S. have been retained as a permanent part of the Service, would they not be considered suitable for this work?

Mr. Dugdale

I have no doubt that they would be very useful indeed.
