§ The Secretary of State for Air (Mr. Philip Noel-Baker)Seven hundred and sixty-seven officers and 2,614 noncommissioned officers of the Women's Auxiliary Air Force are at present performing the duties of officers and noncommissioned officers of the Royal Air Force. I am glad to assure my hon. Friend that their work has been extremely good.
§ Mr. CobbIs it not true that these women receive only two-thirds of the pay of the men whom they replace, and, as they are actually doing men's work beyond any question, is this not a case of equal pay for equal work, and will the right hon. Gentleman direct his attention to that matter?
§ Mr. Noel-BakerThis seems to me to be a case of unequal pay for equal work. Perhaps my hon. Friend will put a Question down on the Paper, as it is quite a different matter.
