HC Deb 29 January 1947 vol 432 cc917-8
8. Sir R. Ross

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether it is proposed to give or lend any more war ships to Powers which are not members of the British Commonwealth.

Mr. Dugdale

No ships have been given to foreign Powers, nor is it proposed to give any in the future. Requests from foreign Powers for the loan or sale of ships which are surplus to our requirements will be considered on their merits.

Sir R. Ross

Have any been considered?

Mr. Dugdale

I think that the best answer I can give is to refer the hon. Gentleman to the statement which is being made today' by my noble Friend in another place.
