HC Deb 29 January 1947 vol 432 c923
22. Captain John Crowder

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he will reconsider the question of providing a Crown post office in Friern Barnet, having regard to the need for improving the postal facilities in that district.

Mr. Burke

The position remains much the same as it was when I replied to the hon. and gallant Member's previous Question on this subject on 28th February last. We are, however, reviewing the claims of Friern Barnet, and the question of making use of the premises which the hon. and gallant Member has recently brought to my notice, and I will write to him as soon as my inquiries are complete.

Captain Crowder

In view of the increase in the population and the growing demand for a Crown post office in that district, will the hon. Gentleman do his best to provide one? It is a very long time since the matter was first raised, and the correspondence has been going on since 1937.

Mr. Burke

Yes, we are looking into the question, but the accommodation which has been suggested would need some adaptations.
