HC Deb 23 January 1947 vol 432 c357
42. Mr. King

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether it is the policy of the Electricity Commission to favour urban dwellings as compared with rural cottages in the provision of electric lighting; and why essential poles are being refused in rural areas.

Mr. Shinwell

No, Sir; the Electricity Commission do not discriminate in favour of urban dwellings. The issue of licences to acquire poles is restricted because there is a great shortage of poles.
