§ 35. Mr. Wyattasked the Minister of Fuel and Power what is the estimated increase in output from the mines that will be achieved by the installation of up-to-date equipment wherever it is needed.
§ Mr. ShinwellMy hon. Friend will appreciate that the installation of up-to-date equipment is part of the general re-organisation problem which is engaging the close attention of the National Coal Board. I cannot, therefore, furnish an estimate of the amount of equipment required or the increased output that will be obtained.
§ Mr. WyattDoes not my right hon. Friend think that it would be helpful to the people of the country if they had some idea of the target in manpower and equipment at which we are aiming?
§ Mr. ShinwellYes, Sir, and the National Coal Board, having taken over the collieries, are now engaged in a complete survey.
