HC Deb 27 February 1947 vol 433 c2280
61. Mr. Martin Lindsay

asked the Minister of Labour what proportion of the increase of 40,000 miners in the course of this year he anticipates will be provided, respectively, by Poles already in this country, British subjects and displaced persons in Europe.

Mr. Isaacs

It is too early to attempt to make such an estimate. Every effort will be made to obtain suitable recruits from all appropriate sources, particularly as it must be remembered that the total recruitment in order to secure a net increase of 40,000 will be considerably more than double that figure.
