45. Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the Prime Minister if Viscount Wavell is to be permitted to make a public statement on his dismissal from the Viceroyalty of India.

The Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)

subject to the normal limitations applicable to all persons holding high office in the State, Viscount Wavell is, of course, at liberty to make any public statement he may wish as to the termination of his tenure as Viceroy.
