asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he will take steps to find out the approximate number of persons now living on each of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, together with the racial constitution of each island.

I will ask the Government of India whether they can furnish the information desired by my hon. Friend, and I will communicate with him when their reply is received.

Will my right hon. and learned Friend take steps to represent to the Government of India the importance of finding out who does live on these islands?
