§ 26. Mr. George Wallaceasked the Minister of Health if he will give powers to local authorities enabling them to requisition parts of occupied properties not fully utilised as living accommodation.
§ Mr. BevanNo, Sir, but I am prepared to consider making a special delegation of my requisitioning powers in appropriate cases in respect of premises which are seriously under-occupied.
§ Mr. WallaceWould my right hon. Friend explain if this provision will apply to rooms which are kept absolutely bare of furniture and are not utilised to any degree?
§ Mr. BevanNo, it is necessary that the house should be proved to be under-occupied, but it is not desired to make 507 unnecessary hardship by putting in some families on top of other families.
