HC Deb 11 February 1947 vol 433 c188
50. Mr. Piratin

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the function of the Interim Treasury Committee for Polish Affairs; to what extent it performs its work in consultation with the Polish Government; what is the cost of maintaining the organisation; out of what funds it is maintained; and if he is satisfied that the number of persons employed are fully occupied in the work of the organisation.

Mr. Dalton

Pending the passage of the Polish Resettlement Bill, this committee cares for the welfare and education of Poles in this country. It does not work in consultation with the Polish Government. The House will be asked to vote £5,250,000 on a Supplementary Estimate to cover part of this year's cost, which amounts, in all, to £7 million. The answer to the last part of the Question is "Yes, Sir."
