HC Deb 10 February 1947 vol 433 c21
42. Brigadier Mackeson

asked the Minister of Transport if he intends to ensure that farmers and smallholders will be allowed to carry their own goods and produce for unlimited distances in any motorcar, van or lorry, which they own.

Mr. Barnes

Goods vehicles used by a person engaged in agriculture solely for carrying the produce of, or articles required for the purpose of, the agricultural land which he occupies, do not require a carrier's licence and are, therefore, unaffected by the Transport Bill.
