HC Deb 06 February 1947 vol 432 c1963
71. Mr. William Wells

asked the Attorney-General whether he will consider substituting educational for property qualifications for service on special juries.

79. Mr. Turner-Samuels

asked the Attorney-General whether he has any information to give the House as to the early introduction of legislation to abolish the distinction between special and common juries.

The Attorney-General (Sir Hartley Shawcross)

I would refer my hon. Friends to the reply given to the hon. Members for Maldon (Mr. Driberg) and Mile End (Mr. Piratin) on 19th December last. As then stated, the subject of special juries is under consideration; no final decision has yet been reached, and my hon. Friend's suggestion will receive consideration.

Mr. H. Hynd

Will the right hon. and learned Gentleman consider removing all restrictions?
