asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what progress had been made at the end of 1946 towards the expenditure of £3,272,350 shown under the Civil Estimates as being required for departmental forms, circulars, pamphlets, etc., during the current financial year; and how this expenditure compares with the amount expended during a similar period in 1945.

£2,048,600 to the end of 1946, which is about a million pounds less than for the corresponding period of 1945.
