HC Deb 15 December 1947 vol 445 c1450
34. Sir John Barlow

asked the Minister of Food in view of the spread of fowl pest what precautions he is taking to prevent further infection; and whether he will limit the import of poultry from countries where this disease is known to exist.

Mr. Strachey

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Newbury (Mr. Hurd) by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture on 1st December. In view of the need to secure all possible supplies of food, I do not propose to place any unnecessary restrictions on the import of poultry from Europe.
