HC Deb 11 December 1947 vol 445 cc1185-6
41. Mr. Erroll

asked the President of the Board of Trade on what date Mr. Hindley's £5,000 a year salary as Chair- man of the Raw Cotton Commission commences.

Mr. Belcher

The full salary will commence on the 1st January, 1948. For the month of December this year, Mr. Hindley has agreed to receive from the funds of the Raw Cotton Commission only the difference between the full salary and the salary he will receive from the National Coal Board.

Mr. Erroll

Does that mean that his work for the Raw Cotton Commission will be full time from 1st January and that his work with the National Coal Board will cease on that date?

Mr. Belcher

Yes, Sir.

Mr. Emrys Hughes

Can my hon. Friend say whether Mr. Hindley as chairman of the Raw Cotton Commission receives more or less than the salary paid to Lord Hyndley of the raw Coal Board?

Mr. Belcher

I am afraid that I have no information at all on that subject.
