HC Deb 11 December 1947 vol 445 cc1165-6
11. Mr. Studholme

asked the Minister of Health whether he will give instructions for a building licence to be granted in the case, particulars of which have been sent him, of an ex-Service man, who is a building foreman, to build a house in the parish of Bickleigh by unpaid labour and in his own time, in view of the fact that his plans have been passed by the local council, and that he possesses almost all the requisite materials.

Mr. Bevan

I am making inquiries into this case and will communicate with the hon. Member.

Mr. Charles Williams

Will not the right hon. Gentleman on this particular occasion turn a kindly eye on this matter, which concerns only a small amount of material needed to enable this worthy working man to build himself a house?

Mr. Bevan

I am aware of that, and at first sight it seems to me that the work might go on.
