Mr. Godfrey Nicholsonasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations how many British subjects are awaiting repatriation at Deolali; how many persons the camp can normally accommodate; whether repatriation can be 1180 expedited; and what is the average length of time those at present there have been awaiting repatriation.
§ Mr. P. Noel-BakerOn 6th December there were 2,525 British subjects at Deolali, awaiting repatriation. Two ships with space for 3,374 passengers were due to leave before 13th December. The camp normally takes 4,920 persons; in emergency, the number could be increased. The evacuation of British subjects is ahead of the programme laid down.
