§ 68. Mr. Turtonasked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will encourage the importation from Canada of a limited number of attested pedigree cattle during the year 1948.
§ Mr. T. WilliamsThe importation of cattle from Canada is subject only to veterinary requirements and to the conditions of the Importation of Canadian Cattle Order, 1933. But, in view of the currency position, I am not prepared to encourage such imports unless I am satisfied that they are essential for the maintenance or improvement in this country of the particular breed concerned.
