§ Mr. MayhewAllied Press messages from Austria are not censored by Allied authorities, Owing to unilateral action by the Soviet element at the end of August, however, Press messages are being delayed up to one hour longer than formerly. This is because the stamps on Press despatches have now to be checked by an Austrian official at the Telegraph Censorship station, instead of at the transmittings 13 station itself. The British and U.S. elements have protested against this action, and the Soviet element have promised to re-examine the question.
