§ 9. Mr. Swinglerasked the Secretary of State for War what rate of voluntary recruitment is required in the next 15 months in order to maintain an army of 425,000 at the end of 1948.
§ Mr. BellengerThe figure of 425,000 to which my hon. Friend has referred, will, of course, be made up of Regulars and National Service men. The Regular content will ultimately be in the region of 220,000 and we should like to get some 4,000 recruits a month to hasten the build-up of our Regular Forces to this figure.
