§ 40. Lieut.-Colonel Sir Thomas Mooreasked the Minister of Education how many class-rooms, teachers and text books are deficient to meet the increased school population as a result of the raising of the school leaving age.
§ Mr. TomlinsonSo far as class-rooms and teachers are concerned, I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the statement which I made when introducing my Department's Estimates on 31st July. As for textbooks, I cannot say to what extent the general shortage will affect the extra age group. As the hon. and gallant Member is aware, steps have been taken to improve the supply.
§ Sir T. MooreCan the right hon. Gentleman give any indication of when the shortage will be overcome?
§ Mr. TomlinsonNo, it will be overcome when we meet the requirements.
