HC Deb 06 August 1947 vol 441 cc1467-8
70. Mr. Dodds

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he has any further information from the inquiries he is making into the arrest of Pandelis Gousides.

Mr. Bevin

I regret that the local British authorities have not yet been able to furnish me with fully authenticated information on the specific points put to me by my hon. Friend.

Mr. Dodds

Is my right hon. Friend aware that I have reliable information that this gentleman has now been executed? If so, will he protest to the Greek Government at the execution of a man who did such excellent work for the Allied Forces during the war, in view of the farcical trial, the details of which I have supplied to my right hon. Friend?

Mr. Bevin

I really cannot enter into the details of every one of these cases. There are charges against this man, whether true or not, of taking part in a revolt against the Government, and working with bandits and so on. I pronounce no opinion, but I do not intend to take up every one of these cases
