§ Mr. BarnesI beg to move, in page 77, line 8, after the second "section", to insert:
and the section of this Act (Right to require acquisition of undertakings providing port facilities).Hon. Members will notice that this Amendment is very similar to one which 1686 I moved earlier in regard to compensation to local authorities. Later I shall move a New Clause which will determine this process of acquisition of undertakings providing port facilities. This is s preparatory Amendment.
§ Mr. MaclayI understand that earlier this evening a discussion took place on a similar proposal to that now moved by the Minister. Unfortunately I was unable 1687 to be present in the Chamber at that time I should like to get it made clear at what point we can go fully into the implications of this Amendment and the new Clause. A certain number of questions must be asked. There was discussion to a certain extent earlier, but the answers were not fully satisfactory, or did not give all the information required. I should like to have advice on whether it would be best for me to pursue these matters now, or on the introduction of the new Clause.
§ Mr. BarnesI suggest that the best occasion for the hon. Member to raise these points would be on the new Clause.
§ Mr. MaclayCan the Minister give an assurance that we are going to reach the new Clause?
§ Mr. BarnesYes, I can, because it is a Government Amendment.
§ Amendment agreed to.
