HC Deb 01 April 1947 vol 435 c1829
47. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider setting up a Royal Commission for the purpose of considering making recommendations for the administration and co-ordination of the Ministry of Food and the Ministry of Agriculture, since the present policies of the two Ministries are, in many respects, diametrically opposed.

The Prime Minister

No, Sir. The coordination of policy is a matter for His Majesty's Government, and in any case I cannot accept the implication of the last part of the Question.

Mr. De la Bère

Is not the Prime Minister aware that the present policies of the Ministry of Food and the Ministry of Agriculture are incompatible; is he not further aware that it always happens that the home producer gets the very worst of the deal because these two Ministries are diametrically opposed?

The Prime Minister

No, Sir. I have already pointed out that I do not accept the hon. Member's statement.

Mr. De la Bère

I hope the Prime Minister will one day.
