HC Deb 01 April 1947 vol 435 c1838
56. Squadron-Leader Sir Gifford Fox

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the running of late night omnibuses for transport from the House of Commons after late sittings, he will consider discontinuing the use of Minister's motorcars, when the omnibuses are available, to enable the drivers to have reasonable hours.

Mr. Dalton

No, Sir. This is a matter for the discretion of individual Ministers.

Sir G. Fox

Is it not in accordance with Socialist principles that all should have equal transport, and should not Ministers travel on these buses in order to hear what their back benchers think about their lack of policy?

Mr. Dalton

That question is demagogic rather than a desire for information.
