§ 35. Lieut.-Colonel Liptonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action he is taking on the representations made by the Lambeth Borough Council and supported by the Metropolitan Boroughs Standing Joint Committee for legislation to facilitate successful prosecutions where premises are used for the purpose of prostitution.
§ Mr. EdeI have taken note of the representations to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers, but I am afraid that I cannot hold out any hope of legislation on this subject at the present time.
§ Lieut.-Colonel LiptonIs my right hon. Friend aware that conditions in some streets in Brixton are a public scandal, and that the police and the local council are quite unable, under the present law, to clean up this undesirable area, where accommodation is so urgently needed by respectable families?
