Mr. Douglas Marshallasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what is the number of staff employed in the Inland Revenue Department qualified to draw overtime; what overtime was paid to this staff during the last six months; and what is the average salary of a man aged 21 years in this Department.
§ Mr. Glenvil HallApproximately 40,000 on 1st October, 1946. £285,777 was paid in the six months ended 3oth June, 1946. I regret that I cannot furnish an estimate of average salary of particular ages.
§ 66. Mr. D. Marshallasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury why the basic wage in the Inland Revenue Department is calculated at 42 hours a week in London and 44 hours a week outside London.
§ Mr. Glenvil HallDifferences in the hours of the working week between London and the provinces do not affect the basic rates of pay of members of the same established grade.
