§ 58. Mr. Price-Whiteasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will now make an announcement of the date for the return from Llandudno to London of the Principal Probate Registry, the Estate Duty Offices and the Inspector of Taxes staffs still remaining at Llandudno.
§ 55. Mr. Jannerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the inconvenience and delays caused by the absence of the Estate Duty Office from London, he will arrange for the return of that office to London shortly.
§ Mr. DaltonThe Principal Probate Registry returned to London last March. The Estate Duty Office will move to Harrow as soon as the accommodation selected for them is ready. The Departmental Claims Branch is in process of moving from Llandudno to Cardiff.
§ Mr. MedlicottIs the Chancellor aware that a great deal of the work of the Estate Duty Office is normally done "over the counter," and is most unsuitable for correspondence, but that in any case the situation of the office at Harrow will be quite as inconvenient as it has been in North Wales?
§ Mr. DaltonNo, Sir. I cannot believe that that is so.
§ Mr. Price-WhiteIs the Chancellor aware that the completion of the removal to which he has referred results in the return of Llandudno to normality? Will it spur him in his efforts to know that they are prepared to celebrate this return to normality by an invitation to hold the Labour Party Conference there next year?
§ Mr. DaltonI remember a very good Labour Party Conference at Llandudno many years ago.
