§ I. Air-Commodore Harveyasked the Minister of Health how many ex-Service doctors are registered as unemployed at the latest convenient date.
§ The Minister of Health (Mr. Aneurin Bevan)I regret that I am unable to furnish the information asked for. Ex-Service doctors seeking medical appointments do not register with the Appointments Department of the Ministry of Labour, and I know of no other source from which the figures could be obtained.
§ Air-Commodore HarveyDoes the right hon. Gentleman appreciate that a great many ex-Service doctors are unemployed; and will he go into this matter and consult with the Chancellor of the Exchequer, with a view to getting a special grant to enable these men to undertake some work; and will he give the matter full consideration?
§ Mr. BevanSpecial arrangements have been made already by me for appointments to hospitals, and special training facilities and grants are made. Where the reference is to general practitioners, I have not the figures which the hon. and gallant Gentleman asks for.
