§ 26. Mr. Boyd-Carpenterasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether he will consider the making of grants to sea cadet units in respect of boys between the ages of 12 and 14.
Mr. DugdaleNo, Sir. The minimum age of enrolment in the Sea Cadet Corps is 14, and I regret that it is accordingly not possible to make grants to units in respect of boys below this age.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterIf I send the Parliamentary Secretary particulars of a unit providing first class training for 100 of these boys within 12 miles of this Chamber, will he undertake to come and have a look at it, with a view to seeing whether he can do something to help?
§ Mr. Kenneth LindsayWill the Parliamentary Secretary stick to his point and refrain from giving this grant, because this excellent organisation can start training perfectly well at the age of 14?
