§ 54. Mr. Randallasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he is aware of the fall of postal traffic in Austria, with its subsequent loss of revenue, following the imposition of censorship; that to avoid this censorship a private courier service is being set up; and, in view of this, when is it proposed to bring to an end this censorship.
§ Mr. J. HyndThe censorship of internal postal communications was discontinued in Austria on 4th October.
§ Mr. RandallBut is the hon. Gentleman not aware that there has been a serious loss of revenue and compensation paid, because of the loss of the contents? Also, is he aware that the Nazis did not impose censorship while apparently democracy does?
§ Mr. HyndAs I pointed out, censorship has been abolished. The House will agree that in the early stages of the occupation it was necessary that a censorship should be imposed.
