HC Deb 22 October 1946 vol 427 c1471
47. Mr. Stokes

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether he is aware that Frau Marga Wetzig, of Flensburg, Marien Hof 23, Schleswig-Holstein, whose husband is a prisoner of war, is being turned out of her house with her children with no suitable alternative accommodation provided and deprived of the benefit of her garden; and whether he will have the requisitioning of this house cancelled.

The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (Mr. John Hynd)

Frau Marga Wetzig's house has not been requisitioned.

Mr. Stokes

As the information I have is entirely to the contrary, will my hon. Friend bear in mind that this is only typical of thousands of similar cases, and will he give the House an assurance that widows with children, mothers with families, and families where the fathers are prisoners of war will not be ruthlessly turned out of their houses?

Mr. Hynd

I think the answer is that this is typical of many cases but not of the thousands on which the hon. Member has raised questions.
