My thoughts must have been straying to the hon. Member for Ipswich (Mr. Stokes).

A system, known as the Single Table system, has now been devised which will enable revised tax tables to be printed and distributed in about 10 weeks, as compared with five or six months under the old system. This is a great improvement, but it involves employers in some additional work. I am happy to say that the British Employers' Confederation have indicated that, in the national interest, they are ready to work the new system. I should like to express my appreciation of their public spirit in this matter.
