§ Mr. George HicksI beg the privilege of the House to present a Petition, which has been very extensively signed in my constituency and in the constituency of my hon. Friend the Member for West Woolwich (Mr. Berry), dealing with war damage, particularly to houses that were so badly bombed that they are not able to be used, and the amount of compensation for which is very low. Many of these houses belong to owner-occupiers and they are seeking an amendment of the 1943 Act so that the compensation may be somewhat increased, I am presenting this Petition containing many thousands of signatures and I ask the House to receive it sympathetically. I hope that when the Chancellor of the Exchequer makes his statement, I shall have the privilege of catching your eye, Mr. Speaker, in order that I may speak upon it.
§ Petition to lie upon the Table.
