asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give an estimate of the total sum of money taken out of the United Kingdom during the past six months by persons proceeding to Europe and the U.S.A.; and of the total amount brought in by persons who hold European or U.S. passports.

The exchange cost of outward travellers during the six months ended 31st August, 1946, was about £9 million for travellers to Europe and £4 million for travellers to the U.S.A. No figures of receipts from inward travellers are available.
