Smithasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any consultations have taken place between the University Grants Committee and the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals on the subject of the planning of student hostels; and whether the University Grants Committee will propose that a special committee be set up, with representatives of student bodies as well as of university authorities, to consider this problem of living accommodation.
