HC Deb 27 November 1946 vol 430 c1591
22. Air-Commodore Harvey

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation the future arrangements for operating a British air service between this country and Switzerland.

Mr. Lindgren

British European Airways Corporation intend to operate four regular scheduled services daily with "V" Class aircraft to Switzerland, terminating at Zurich, Geneva and Basle, as soon as the supply of aircraft, trained crews and ground facilities permit.

Air-Commodore Harvey

In view of the heavy traffic that is to travel to Switzerland in the coming months, will the Minister see that British airlines participate? When will the lines start?

Mr. Lindgren

The programme provides that it will start as early as possible in the spring of 1947.

Sir Ronald Ross

Will the Minister undertake that, before he sends these planes to Interlaken and other places, he will establish a good service between Belfast and London?

Mr. Speaker

The Question asks only about an air service between this country and Switzerland.
