HC Deb 27 November 1946 vol 430 cc1586-7
12. Mr. McKie

asked the Secretary of State for Air if he will make a statement as to future plans for the aerodrome at Baldoon Wigtownshire.

Mr. de Freitas

I have nothing to add to my reply to the hon. Member's Question of 17th July in which I said that we planned to keep R.A.F. Station Wigtown for permanent flying use.

Mr. McKie

Will the hon. Gentleman bear in mind that the owner of these farmlands is being placed in a very difficult position and that the aerodrome in question is hardly used at all now, and will he appreciate the point that much good grazing ground is more or less going out of production through remaining unused?

Mr. de Freitas

With regard to the depreciation through lack of use, I think the hon. Member should take that up with the local agricultural authorities, because that matter is in their hands and has bee for a couple of years.
