HC Deb 27 November 1946 vol 430 cc1605-6
46. Sir T. Moore

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider trying to arrange a meeting of the Big Four in order to discuss and decide the future of Palestine.

The Lord President of the Council (Mr. Herbert Morrison)

I have been asked to reply. No, Sir.

Sir T. Moore

Why do we continue to expose our soldiers and civilians to savage murder in Palestine for no apparent return except hatred from the Jews, distrust from the Arabs, and criticism from our Allies?

Mr. Morrison

That is an expression of sorrow which I am sure we all share.

Sir T. Moore

Why do we go on doing it?

Mr. Drayson

Is the reason why these discussions have not been allowed to take place because it is no longer the Big Four but the Big Three and a Half?
