§ Mr. ShinwellSupplementary petrol allowances are granted to motorists who use their cars for business purposes, but I could not justify the grant of larger allowances to ex-Servicemen than to others engaged in similar businesses.

Gentleman aware that the supplementary allowances are quite inadequate in a very large number of cases, and that his answer will cause a great deal of disappointment to many classes of ex-Servicemen, who sacrificed their businesses to join up, and who now find that they cannot resume owing to restrictions Which they are convinced are unnecessary?
§ Mr. ShinwellIf the hon. Member has any evidence about inadequacy of petrol allowances in the case of ex-Servicemen, I shall be glad to have the information.
