asked the Minister of Labour if he will make a statement on the revision of the data on which the cost-of-living index is based.

This is a matter on which I am hoping to have the advice of the Cost-of-Living Advisory Committee which has recently been reconstituted.

Mr. Osborne

Will the right hon. Gentleman tell the House what difference in the cost of living index would result if the food subsidy of £360 million were taken off?
