§ 30. Mr. Orbachasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that a bombed site cannot be cleared for rebuilding purposes at 64 Tadworth Road, Cricklewood, owing to the existence of a static water tank covering the area; that this static water tank can only be removed by a compressor; and, as the contractors working for the local county council have withdrawn their labour on the grounds that the employment of compressors is uneconomic at the rates laid down by his Department, what action he intends to take to deal with this difficulty.
§ Mr. EdeI understand that the site to which my hon. Friend refers, and an adjoining one also occupied by the water tank concerned have been derequisitioned and authority issued for the payment of compensation to the respective owners. Accordingly, it now rests with the owners to arrange for the removal of the tank.
