HC Deb 20 November 1946 vol 430 cc829-30
6. Mr. F. Noel-Baker

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether any plans have yet been considered for the installation of an automatic exchange in Chiswick; and when he expects work to begin.

Mr. Burke

Arrangements have been made to provide a building for an automatic exchange in Chiswick, and I expect the work to begin within the next few weeks.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Will the Assistant Postmaster-General see that a special line is laid on from Chiswick to the passport office to enable the hon. Member to get permission before he visits friendly countries with unfriendly intentions?

Mr. Noel-Baker

May I ask my hon. Friend whether he is aware that during my recent journey to Spain there was no question whatsoever of false passports or false visas, and that I used the route used by many hundreds of friendly Allied airmen during the war?
