§ 54. Mr. Hicksasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider amending the terms of the Government Scheme of Compensation (No. 133), to enable disputes arising between an injured workman or his representatives and the Government Department by whom he was employed to be referred to an independent arbitrator and medical referee, to be appointed by agreement between the parties, in substitution for the present system whereby such ques- 1214 tions are referred to another Government Department, namely the Treasury, and medical referees appointed by the Treasury.
§ Mr. DaltonThis scheme, like others, will soon be replaced by the provisions of the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act, and I doubt if it is worth while considering amendments now.
