§ 20. Sir Patrick Hannonasked the Minister of Fuel and Power when the details of the subsidy scheme of £1 per ton on fuel oil used in this country will be made available; and if the Petroleum Board has yet completed the plan for rebate to large consumers.
§ Mr. ShinwellDetails of the subsidy scheme were published in the daily and technical Press on or about 1st October, 1946, the date from which the subsidy became payable. At the same time, it was announced that the normal peacetime system of zonal pricing of black oils, and of the granting of quantity rebates to all consumers buying more than 100 tons of oil per annum, was being reintroduced. I am sending the hon. Member a copy of the Press announcement giving the details.
§ Sir P. HannonDoes that mean that the functions of the Petroleum Board are now in the hands of the right hon. Gentleman?
§ Mr. ShinwellI would not go so far as that, but there is very close liaison between the two parties.
