HC Deb 04 November 1946 vol 428 cc1050-1
59. Mr. Dye

asked the Minister of Agriculture to what extent has a portion of the Thetford Forest, under the Forestry Commissioners, been damaged or deteriorated by neglect since its inclusion in the battle training area; and whether an effective arrangement has been made to prevent this continuing.

Mr. T. Williams

Seven hundred and eighty-six acres of plantations have been destroyed, and 935 acres, which are still capable of reconstitution, have been damaged and have deteriorated at Thet-ford Forest since the inclusion of part of the Forest in the battle training area. The question of repossession of the plantations is under active consideration.
