HC Deb 28 May 1946 vol 423 cc961-2
4. Lieut.-Commander Joynson-Hicks

asked the Minister of Town and Country Planning whether he is aware of the plan of the Haslemere Urban District Council to start an industrial zone in the neighbouring and rural parishes of Camels-dale and Fernhurst; and, as such proposals are strenuously opposed by the parishes and rural districts whose inhabitants will be injuriously affected by them, what is his attitude in this matter.

Mr. Silkin

I am aware of the plan referred to. I am at present in consultation with the planning authorities concerned on the application of the Haslemere Urban District Council for my consent to the acquisition of land for industrial development. I am not, therefore, in a position to express an opinion upon it at present.

Lieut. -Commander Joynson-Hicks

Will the right hon. Gentleman say whether he has also taken into consideration the objections of the rural authorities?

Mr. Silkin

Certainly, in considering it I shall take into account all sides of the question.
