§ 13. Mr. David Ecclesasked the Minister of Supply whether he will reduce the rents of the bungalows on the Corsham and Chippenham sites, erected in connection with the Bristol Aircraft factory at Corsham, owing to the reduction in earnings following the closing of that factory.
§ Mr. WilmotA revised basis of assessment of rents for houses owned by my Ministry has recently been settled. This will be applied to these estates immediately.
§ Mr. EcclesDoes the Minister realise that, for a long time, his Department has been charging rent for accommodation which is very much worse than that which can be obtained from local councils for the same money?
§ Mr. WilmotThat arises from the fact that those particular houses do not carry the subsidy. I have the point in mind, and a revised basis has now been settled.
